Virginia and Transurban Sign Agreements to Invest More
Than $1 Billion in Northern Virginia Transportation

Below is a statement from Northern Virginia Chamber President and CEO, Julie Coons on today’s
announcement of major improvements to Northern Virginia’s transportation network.

“The agreement announced today between the Commonwealth and Transurban is an important step forward in executing the vision of a streamlined Express Lanes network connecting Northern Virginia and our greater region.  The improvements on I-95 increase access to important assets and address a disruptive, congested bottleneck.  Moreover, the extension of the 495 Express Lanes to the American Legion Bridge is a key component of our continued efforts to ease access and eventually upgrade and expand capacity to the American Legion Bridge.  We are excited to see these projects come to fruition and help unlock mobility across Northern Virginia.”
