Earlier today at the Northern Virginia Chamber Board of Directors meeting, I joined with Dr. Ángel Cabrera, President of George Mason University (Mason), to sign a strategic partnership agreement between the Northern Virginia Chamber and George Mason University.
This partnership aims to align the regional business community more closely with Virginia’s largest public university. Together, the Northern Virginia Chamber and Mason will: co-innovate around thought leadership in current and emerging industries; co-produce public policy events; and enhance the capabilities of both institutions.
Partnerships like the Capital Region Business Forum, first annual Northern Virginia Regional Elected Leaders Summit, and this new venture with Mason, demonstrate our commitment to collaborate and partner with like-minded organizations to drive regional dialogue and support the success and continued growth of the Northern Virginia business community.
An institutional working group consisting of leaders from Chamber membership and from the various Mason schools will focus on integrating research, programming, and thought leadership around government contracting, entrepreneurship and innovation, public policy, cybersecurity, hospitality, and more. As part of this effort, Northern Virginia’s world-class business community will have greater, more direct access to Mason’s exceptional talent pipeline through the Chamber, fulfilling a shared goal to create a school-to-workforce pipeline that keeps our most talented students right here in Northern Virginia.
We are committed to finding innovative ways to leverage our regional resources for the benefit of our members and our region’s business community. With the collective talent at our fingertips made available through this innovative partnership, the possibilities are endless – and we are excited to get to work.
I hope you will join us in celebrating this unique partnership and the exciting work to come. If you are an active member, we welcome your support and input to make this a successful partnership. If you are a member but not active, I encourage you to participate in a thought leadership council or attend an upcoming event. If you are not a member yet, please reach out to me or anyone on the Chamber staff to learn about member benefits and opportunities.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Northern Virginia region and its business community – we are proud to serve you, and excited to serve you in new ways to come.
