The Economic Council works to promote the economy of Northern Virginia to the regional, national and international community, thus raising awareness of economic trends and issues facing our region and equipping businesses with the information needed to make informed decisions.
In 2015 the Economic Council hosted a hugely successful event titled, “Expanding Into Fairfax County's International Marketplace.” The event included an industry-diverse panel and allowed the Chamber to engage with a new group of businesses. The following groups attended the event:
- Asian American Chamber of Commerce
- Bristish-American Business Association
- French American Chamber of Commerce
- Netherlands America Chamber of Commerce
- The Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce
- Turkish American Business Network
- Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber also hosted an event focused on the Hospitality Market in the region that focused on the growth of the industry in recent years and what the future holds.
The Economic Council kicked off 2016 by partnering with Cardinal Bank, George Mason University, and Washington Business Journal for the 24th Annual Economic Conference: Roadmap to Our Region’s Economic Future. Stephen Fuller presented the keynote address. The Chamber also plans to host a regional forum which will convene economic development authorities from various counties throughout the region.
