Help the Chamber Oppose a Single Industry Meals Tax
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is considering the introduction of a referendum ballot measure that would impose a meals tax of 4% on all restaurant meals and prepared foods in Fairfax County. Northern Virginia Chamber Mourns the Passing of Earle C. Williams
The Northern Virginia Chamber mourns the passing of one of the founding fathers of the Washington area's government IT and services industry, Earle C. Williams. A lifelong advocate for education and culture in Northern Virginia, Williams also helped found the Professional Services Council and the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC). NVTC annually presents the Earle C. Williams Lifetime Achievement award to a leader who has made an important contribution to the tech community. He drove the transformation of George Mason University into a true intellectual leader and Northern Virginia Community College into the advanced technology training center it is today. We are partnering with United Way NCA to make this giving day a huge success. We need your help! Do More 24 is a 24-hour online fundraiser powered by United Way NCA that brings together hundreds of local nonprofit organizations on one easy-to-use donation platform at online here. We ask that you spread the word to your staff and ask them to tell their family and friends about Do More 24. Last year, Do More 24 donors contributed $1.4 million to local nonprofits. Fairfax County Public Library Call for Volunteers
The Fairfax County Public Library is in the process of conducting an extensive community engagement project and is looking for young professionals to participate in a focus group. They are interested in learning their view of Fairfax County and what they might be looking for or need from the county that perhaps the FCPL could provide them in the future. Focus groups will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at the Chantilly Regional Library and Thursday, April 14 at the Kings Park Library. Appointments will be 30 minutes to one hour.
