Chief Executive Officer
Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year (Small Business) Nominee
Why do you believe CSR strategy is important for a company?
A company’s CSR strategy is a reflection of its own values and acknowledgement of its connection to its surrounding community. While the ultimate outcome of a CSR strategy is the contribution of time and money to worthy causes, the company and its employees gain something as well - the camaraderie, connection, and even fun that come from rallying around a common cause. A CSR strategy should align with the value the company places on both professional and personal growth, and funneling employee engagement into positive, far-reaching channels.
Do you believe that the CSR work you participate in should be affiliated with the work you/your company does? For example, should an Oil company’s CSR be in cleaning up oil spills?
There are many ways a company can contribute through its CSR work - whether through in-kind services or donations, or through the gifts, talents, and strengths representative of its workforce. This compatibility is key to a productive CSR partnership. As a company, MetaPhase Consulting has instilled CSR into our mission and as a corporate citizen, we strive to bring our best to the table in fulfilling our partners’ needs.
What makes your company stand out compared to other companies participating in CSR?
When it comes to CSR, MetaPhase Consulting is driven internally by a desire to top our own contributions and efforts year over year - we see ourselves as our biggest competition! We aim not only to raise our numbers but to increase engagement, finding new ways to encourage associates, friends, family, and others in our network to participate and to have some fun in the process. As a small business, we recognize the power of maximizing our resources - and that just makes us more resourceful.
Do you believe contributing back to the community allows your company to have a deeper connection with its clients/customers?
If anything, we believe our CSR philosophy is indicative of the depth of commitment we show to our clients every day. Our contributions to the community are an extension of who we are and they are consistent with our corporate mission is to lead Federal government programs that afford purposeful work, engaged teams, and allow us to provide REAL IMPACT to our customers. We firmly believe that companies that visibly demonstrate strong ethics and demonstrate true dedication to their community are much more likely to have a stronger reputation and attract like-minded customers.
What advice would you give to companies trying to participate in CSR?
The first step would be to identify what your employees are passionate about and then seek out to ways to serve the cause or organization. Determine what’s best for your company in terms of the resources you’re prepared to commit - start small if you need to and scale up as you gain momentum and dedicated manpower. Offer various ways for employees to show their support and ideally, provide opportunities that encourage your employees’ professional and personal growth. And most importantly, show up and commit to be a consistent presence for your partnering organization. Recognize that they will come to rely on you and your contributions.
