Cushman & Wakefield
Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year (Large Business) Nominee
Why do you believe CSR strategy is important for a company?
Operating a sustainable, successful, responsible business, which includes understanding the way our activities affect other businesses, the environment, society, and the economy requires that we work to create a positive impact—on our employees and their families, local and global communities, and the natural environment.
Do you believe that the CSR work you participate in should be affiliated with the work you/your company does? For example, should an Oil company’s CSR be in cleaning up oil spills?
Cushman & Wakefield recognizes that influence extends far beyond the boundaries of our work. We have a responsibility to ensure our industry is held to the highest standards, and help set best practices around the globe. Recognitions from business and real estate industry organizations, community groups, the media, government, and other important sources testify to the successful implementation of Cushman & Wakefield’s culture, philosophy, and business model.
What makes your company stand out compared to other companies participating in CSR?
A company must work hard to build and maintain a reputation for integrity and trust. Those qualities have been a driving force behind our approach to all aspects of our business, from putting our clients’ interests first in all that we do, to aligning with and acquiring like-minded firms in major markets worldwide that share the same high standards of conduct.
Do you believe contributing back to the community allows your company to have a deeper connection with its clients/customers?
Yes, Cushman & Wakefield recognizes our responsibility to employees, clients and the communities within which we operate, both present and future. As a company we believe that the foundation for social responsibility lies in a company’s character, and developing a corporate culture that nurtures integrity, empathy, and conscientiousness.
What advice would you give to companies trying to participate in CSR?
For any company seeking to participate in CSR, it is important to know that good governance ensures trust is maintained with all stakeholders and is essential for continued growth. Without good governance, Cushman & Wakefield cannot operate sustainably and create shared value with our stakeholders.
