1. Tell us why and how you support the region’s active-duty/reserve military and/or national intelligence community, their families and/or veterans?
Each year SOSi invests in the communities where we live and work and in support of our customers. Led from the top, SOSi actively engages staff members in community outreach and volunteer activities around the national capital region. Together we can make a positive impact on our local community and in support of our customers who have sacrificed so much in their service to our nation.
2. What makes your company stand out compared to other companies participating in CSR?
A company’s commitment to CSR should match with its employees, mission and corporate culture. At SOSi more than 30% of our employees served in the military. Around the globe, many of our employees provide daily, direct support to the U.S. military and coalition forces. We’ve found that our corporate values and culture, including our company motto: Challenge Accepted! align closely with organizations whose mission is to support service members and their families.
3. Do you believe contributing back to the community allows your company to have a deeper connection with its clients/customers?
SOSi’s CSR efforts are truly led from the top, with CEO Julian Setian leading our Army 10 Miler race team each year and helping to choose our annual partnerships and investment opportunities. SOSi is a family-owned company, and we bring that unique corporate culture and leadership style into everything we do, from long-range logistics to corporate social responsibility. Our planning begins annually with a survey of employees to learn what organizations they support personally and what local and national organizations and events they recommend for corporate support.
4. What are some events or causes that inspire you and your team?
SOSi is an annual supporter of the Army 10 Miler, the largest 10 mile race in the world held here in the national capitol region whose proceeds support Army families serving around the globe. Led by our CEO Julian Setian and VP of Mission Solutions Group, Ret. General Frank Helmick, SOSi’s team of racers and volunteers take part each year. In 2016, SOSi is a major sponsor of the race. We will see you at the finish line!
5. What advice would you give to companies trying to participate in CSR?
Do you research and find out what the best fit is for your employees, corporate culture, budget
and time commitment–there are so many great organizations, events and opportunities out there–
if you look hard enough you will find one that fits your organization and mission!
