The Fairfax Chamber’s NOVABIZPAC has welcomed seven new trustees.
NOVABIZPAC was founded in 2002 to support Virginia legislators and policymakers who promote a favorable business climate and a high quality of life in Virginia. NOVABIZPAC is administered by a Board of Trustees composed of top executives and government affairs professionals from Chamber member companies.
“I’m delighted to welcome these outstanding Chamber members and business leaders to NOVABIZPAC’s Board,” said Scott McGeary of Washington Gas and NOVABIZPAC chair. “They will provide valuable service and insights as the PAC considers endorsements of candidates seeking our support. I look forward to working with each of them.” The new trustees are:
Phil Panzarella, Past Chair of the Chamber (5GS, LLC) I am involved in the PAC because it is a great opportunity to foster an environment of leadership, cooperation and education among the business community and legislators. It also introduces a level of accountability in government in that the PAC can hold legislators, both incumbent and aspiring, accountable to pro-business policies which is critical to the success of the county, the region and the commonwealth!
Doug Brammer, Policy Chair of the Chamber (Verizon) “Our chamber is affected by a wide variety of government policies -- from regulation to taxation to health care and more -- that have an enormous impact on the business climate in which we operate. We owe it to our members to advocate public policies that will enable us to compete fairly and freely in the marketplace. NOVABIZPAC is one way we support the democratic electoral process and participate in the policy dialogue.”
Mike Forehand, Chairman’s Appointee and Policy Committee Vice Chair (Inova) “NovaBizPAC is critical to ensuring our elected leaders and candidates for office are laser focused on supporting the growth of Virginia’s economic engine – the Northern Virginia business community. NovaBizPAC holds our leaders accountable to the policies that support growth in our region, and I’m very excited to be a part of that team.”
C. Michael Ferraro, (TRAINING SOLUTIONS, Inc.) I am very excited to join the Board of NOVABizPAC. I feel my contributions to the team would be very similar to other advocacy groups of which I am a member. I hope to focus on the needs of the small business community and for employers in Northern Virginia to have access to the skilled workforce they need to compete.
Brian Gordon (AOBA) “It is an honor to serve as part of the NOVABIZPAC Board of Trustees. I very much look forward to the opportunity to help guide the PAC’s investments in those candidates whose policy platforms align with that of Northern Virginia’s business community to foster a more favorable business climate.”
Mark Moore (John Marshall Bank) “As a Past Chairman of the Fairfax Chamber, I have been privileged to observe firsthand the tremendous leadership role and impact that the Fairfax Chamber has on matters effecting Northern Virginia and the region. I chose to stay involved with NOVABIZPAC in large part due to the Chamber’s leading role on many critical issues, including transportation.
Making sure Northern Virginia has a voice in the legislative process is a priority for me and for the Chamber. The hard work and dedication of NOVABIZPAC is central to ensuring Virginia remain a top place to grow or start a business.”
Todd Rowley (Cardinal Bank) I believe that NOVABIZPAC plays a positive role in strengthening the representation that the Northern Virginia business community enjoys with our elected officials and prospective candidates for office at the state and local levels. In a very direct manner, NOVABIZPAC is the conduit by which business leaders can proactively be involved in the shaping our local economic environment, and provide a meaningful way to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with government leadership. I am looking forward to being an active participant in these efforts over the coming year.
